On April 14, Baylor University held its third annual Baylor Giving Day. For 24 hours, Baylor’s alumni, parents, faculty, staff, students and friends came together to give back and shine a light on the things they hold dear here.

Baylor saw 3,942 people, foundations and organizations give to every academic unit and to all areas of the University, with a total of more than $1 million given to celebrate Baylor Giving Day.

“Baylor Giving Day is more than about making gifts to the university – it is about the Baylor Family coming to celebrate what they value from their experiences at Baylor. It’s about honoring those ties that bind us together as a Baylor Family and giving back to support the generations of Baylor students who follow in That Good Old Baylor Line,” said David Rosselli, vice president of advancement. “Baylor Giving Day is a wonderful expression of our legacy of philanthropy here at Baylor, and I am grateful for all our alumni and the countless parents, friends, faculty and staff that gave back to make this day a success.”

When faculty called for support, these donors responded, with 59 percent of donors giving to scholarships and academic and campus programming, and 41 percent giving to support Baylor Athletics programs. They helped the Louise Herrington School of Nursing and the School of Engineering and Computer Science unlock donor participation matching gifts – bringing an additional $50,000 each in support to their students, faculty and staff. All 50 states were represented with gifts from our parents, alumni and friends.

Baylor Giving Day supports the Give Light Campaign, Baylor’s ambitious, comprehensive $1.1 billion fundraising campaign launched in 2019. The Give Light Campaign undergirds Baylor’s strategic plan Illuminate and impacts every aspect of campus life – academics, athletics, student life and service learning – while also bolstering financial support for students and for the priorities of Baylor’s 12 schools and colleges.
